Viral Video Marketing: Why you Shouldn’t be Nervous About it
A lot of Internet marketers are hesitant about moving into viral video marketing for one simple reason: They’re afraid of it. But should you be?
In a word: No.
First of all, it’s about your marketing message and the value your product or idea has to offer. It’s not about you.
And that should be great news for you if you’re interested in exploring viral video marketing but can’t stand to be in front of a camera. Because the truth is, great video marketing doesn’t require you to get in front of the camera.
The focal point of marketing videos should be your product, your brand, or your idea. You don’t need to show even the tiniest glimpse of yourself – anywhere – in your video. That doesn’t mean you can’t show yourself in any of your videos. If you want to put some of your magnetic personality into your marketing material, go right ahead. But a marketing video doesn’t require a spokesperson or a human representative to become successful.
All you need are compelling scripts, a little cleverly conceived imagery, and some cool yet extremely accessible tools that are already inside your computer.
We’re talking about software such as:
- PowerPoint, if you’re using Windows; or Keynote, if you’re on a Mac
- A video capture program like ScreenFlow, Camtasia, or CamStudio
- Your computer’s built-in camera
- Some peripheral equipment like a headset with a microphone
With just these few tools, you’ll discover that creating a powerful marketing video can be quick and enjoyable.
But what if you are just as scared of sitting in front of a microphone as appearing on camera? It sounds incredible, but there are people who freak out when facing a microphone. In broadcasting that’s the equivalent of what theater actors call stage fright.
Perhaps you’re just not confident that your voice can be an effective marketing tool. The beauty of creating marketing videos using only the tools listed above is that animated texts and images alone can get the message across.
But just about the supreme tool for driving emotions is the human voice. While you don’t always need to put a voice in the mix, more than just about anything else, the human voice can evoke the appropriate emotion to convey your marketing message. The voice has the ability to thrill, inspire fear, create joy, and spark almost any other feeling.
The other option is to trigger the emotions you want by combining the right words with clever images and animations, and the appropriate background music.
Moving images like animated texts, photos, and video clips are effective tools to engage your viewers. That’s because images that shift around can effectively reset the viewers’ attention span. They distract viewers from thinking about clicking on the next link before the video ends.
Marketing videos are worth a try. Since viral video marketing doesn’t have to include your face or your voice, there’s no need for you to be nervous about it. All it takes for your marketing message to succeed is the right script and tools to get your message across.
